Students Explore Careers, Community, and Financial Literacy During Fidelity Pathway Finder Visit

Bold Idea students from Resource Center South had the exciting opportunity to participate in a Pathway Finder visit at Fidelity Investments, where they spent the day exploring careers in technology, developing new skills, and connecting with professionals who shared their experiences and advice.

Students were divided into three groups and rotated through a variety of interactive experiences designed to showcase the many ways technology, collaboration, and leadership come together in today's workplace.

During the campus tour, students explored Fidelity's beautiful offices and collaborative work environment while learning about the many career opportunities available within the organization. They especially enjoyed the campus's scenic surroundings, including a small waterfall that quickly became one of their favorite sights.

In the cybersecurity session, students worked together to solve a challenge that introduced them to important cybersecurity concepts. The activity emphasized critical thinking, collaboration, and creative problem-solving while demonstrating how these skills are applied to protect information and solve real-world challenges.

Students also spent time with members of BOLD, Fidelity's Black affinity group, where employees shared the importance of finding common ground, building meaningful relationships, and supporting one another both personally and professionally. To reinforce those ideas, students participated in a tournament-style game of rock, paper, scissors. As each round ended, students who were eliminated enthusiastically cheered on their classmates, creating an atmosphere of encouragement, teamwork, and community that perfectly reflected the session's message.

After enjoying lunch with Fidelity employees, students participated in a financial education session led by two members of the Fidelity team. They learned practical lessons about financial responsibility, planning for the future, and making informed financial decisions—skills that will benefit them throughout their lives.

We are incredibly grateful to the Fidelity team, the members of BOLD, and everyone who invested their time and expertise to create such a meaningful experience for our students. Their generosity, encouragement, and willingness to share their personal and professional journeys made a lasting impression.

We also extend our sincere thanks to our partners at Resource Center South and Together We Thrive for helping make this opportunity possible. Their continued collaboration allows Bold Idea to connect students with experiences that broaden their perspectives and inspire them to pursue futures filled with possibility.

Pathway Finder visits are about more than exploring careers, they help students build confidence, expand their networks, and see themselves in spaces where they can thrive. We look forward to continuing to create opportunities that empower the next generation of innovators, leaders, and changemakers.
