Just like Superman, Ben Davis was raised on the Kansas prairie. The youngest of four brothers, he knew early on the importance of family and a tight community support system. From a young age he was obsessed with building things – a passion that eventually led him to building his own websites in high school. His first project was a music-sharing site built with HTML and Flash.

Eager to learn, Ben had found his superpower in coding. After earning a bachelor’s degree in Business Information Systems from Baylor University, his path quickly took him to Dallas, where he dove into full-stack web development working on several digital marketing teams. His experience includes work with large Fortune 50 companies and public institutions, including ExxonMobil, NASA, Rackspace, 7-Eleven, Nokia and the University of Texas Medical Branch. Ben’s 15 years of experience in web development has helped him hone his expertise in open-source technologies, including:

  • Databases: Postgresql, MySQL, CouchDB, Redis, ElasticSearch
  • Languages: Python, PHP, Ruby, Javscript (Browser/Node.js)
  • Backend Frameworks: Django, Flask, Ruby on Rails
  • Javascript: Polymer, Ember, Angular, jQuery, ECMA 6/7
  • Server administration: Arch Linux, Ubuntu, Debian
  • Deployment & Cloud architecture: Fabric, OpenStack, Docker

I’m a web application architect, geek, and an admirer of all things technology. Software development is incredibly fulfilling to me. I love to use my talents to solve problems or make life easier for people. Most of all, I love to execute big ideas. I feel that software on internet has the power to change the world, and I want to be a part of that. I leap at the chance to learn new things — I’ve been taking apart and building stuff ever since I was a kid. I enjoy coding because I love to create and invent. I take great pride in my work and in the fact that I create things that others find useful.
