Annual Program Report
June 2015 - May 2016
Youth development organizations, like Bold Idea, emphasize the need to prepare students for their future. While that is important work, we also know that all students are capable now to be problem solvers and builders of technology – at age 17, 12 and even 7. What they need from us is support in technology skill development, encouragement and the environment to thrive.
Already this past year, we have seen examples of what these students can do, and we know that we have not even scratched the surface of their potential. Our theme for the AT&T-sponsored Geek for Good camp and the first semester of ideaSpark was community problem solving. Our students created mobile apps on water conservation, interactive games about recycling and energy conservation, websites that encouraged bully prevention – and even an app on protecting endangered species that’s now on the Google Play store.
